Good of boy system at work here! Conflict of interest at its best. Board of Directors (BOD) influence referees on the field to make slant calls in their favor during championship games. BOD are allowed to coach teams and select refs for paid positions. Corrupt as hell! Witnessed first hand when refs callbacked four touchdowns in one champsion game for made up calls to appease a BOD coach. Justice day is coming!!!!!!!!! By Anonymous on October 31, 2011 at 12:09 PM
My son has been in Upward, NYSO and, now, YAFL.
Upward was a great starting point for younger kids (under 9 yrs old) that I would recommend to any parent.
NYSO was ameteuristic, at best. They were unorganized and more expensive than YAFL (NYSO was $100 registration, $10 id, $161 for equipment - YAFL was $175 for registration/equipment and $28.50 team fee as set in the YAFL policy book). The coaches were well-meaing dads who didn't know how to coach a player.
My son's YAFL team has 5 coaches who know the sport (4 played at the collegiate level). They have a plan for the season, for each practice, for each drill and each player. They are supportive of both the players and their families.
I'd explain the difference simply as NYSO is playing in the backyard, YAFL is playing real football.
(The other reviews sound to me like they are employees of NYSO) By Dave Groth on September 15, 2010 at 01:10 PM
YAFL is the absolutely worst place to sign up for any sport. It is over priced and has terrible service. DO NOT SIGN UP FOR THIS LEAGUE!!! It costs up t o$3000 a season. The rival, National Youth Sports is much better and is cheaper, with better service. Kids will not be turned down at NYS, unlike at YAFL By jojo mojo on October 01, 2009 at 10:03 AM
