About Shaktoolik

Shaktoolik is a very densely populated area in Alaska. According to the 2000 census the population was a mere 230 people. The community is located at the mouth of the Shaktoolik River. Shaktoolik is served by the Bering Strait School District, which serves grade Pre-K through 12. Some of the primary food sources for this community include rabbit, seal, whales, ducks, geese, berries, greens and roots. The community does have a Public Safety Dept Public Safety Dept, which takes great pride in keeping its residents safe. Bering Strait Housing is also located in the community.
