Buffalo and I play music all over so we get to meet lots of nice folks and eat a lot of interesting food. Nothing we've found can top the hospitality and great food at 'The Topless'. George is an excellent chef and Janille runs a very friendly bar...and their oysters are soooooo good. We were there just before the oil disaster and fell in love with our new friends. Hope the environment doesn't get completely ruined. We'll be back!!!... more
After reading good reviews me and 5 friends decided to check it out. No one else was in the resturaunt and the server was quite rude. They said they could not take more than 2 orders per table and they charge 20% gratuity. We left without ordering... more
EXCELLENT FOOD, nice atmosphere, great prices. Service needs a little help, but the food makes up for any server flaws!! We go at least twice a week, more if it was in the budget.... more
My wife and I had our honeymoon on Dauphin Island in June. We had just arrived around 4 p.m. and wanted to get some dinner before we settled in. We went to the Topless Oyster Bar and were VERY pleasantly surprised. The Oysters were excellent and inexpensive, they have a huge selection of beers. The most impressive thing I had was their salsa. It was unbelievably good. I couldn't seem to talk the owner out of the recipe. I wish I had it because it was absolutely the best salsa I have ever eaten. We are going to go back on our one year anniversary to Dauphin Island and I will be eating at the Topless Oyster Bar every time I visit.... more
I live down on Dauphin Island and we frequently travel across the bridge for oysters here. They are always fresh and very tasty and you cannot beat their prices. My personal favorite are the "sushi oysters", raw oysters on the half shell with soy sauce, pickled ginger and a touch of wasabi. This place has a more unique selection of food than you'll find in other nearby places and seems to focus on fresher ingredients and doesn't rely on frying every item. Well worth a visit! And don't be turned away because the place is painted LIME green... its cute on the inside and they have a big deck for outdoor dining.... more
