Gaylesville is a town in Cherokee County, Alabama which was established on January 9, 1836. The county was created on the former Cherokee Nation that encompassed the southern Appalachians of Alabama with parts of adjacent Georgia, Tennessee, and North and South Carolina. According to the 2000 census, Gaylesville had a population of 140 people in 61 households. Gaylesville school system is the Gaylesville School whose mascot is the Trojans. Although the town of Gaylesville itself does not offer much in the entertainment department, there are several things that are not very far away to do. There is a beautiful Country Club that offers a fantastic golf course. There is also several gorgeous parks that are all very close such as the Canyon Mouth Park and Cedar Bluff Park. The third weekend in May offers an annual event called Ball Ground Heritage Days that offers arts, crafts, music, food and a ton of fun. The annual Bicycle Rodeo is held last Saturday in September. When you visit Gaylesville the one place that you want to make sure and visit is Blacks Restaurant that offers down home cooking with fresh desert every single day.
