Talladega is a city in Talladega County of Alabama. It is known for the Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind, Talladega Superspeedway, and the International Motorsports Hall of Fame. Major attractions include Talladega Battleground, Talladega Federal Correctional Institution, Talladega Public Library and Northgate Shopping Center. The city hosts the annual Anne Wedler Exhibit at the Heritage Hall Museum, Spring Classic Car Show and the International Motorsports Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. Among the biggest companies in Talladega are Talladega Castings & Machine Co., Inc., and Talladega Electrical Service & Supply, Inc. The biggest schools here are Talladega County Central High and St. Peter's Episcopal Day School. One of the best places to visit when you are in Talladega is Talladega Courthouse Square Historic District or Pines Park. Famous persons from Talladega include Pulitzer-winning Washington correspondent, Jack Nelson who was also the former Washington bureau chief of Los Angeles Times.
