The house was built for cost plus 10%. I would not recommend this method in any situation. This builder tried to manipulate the prices at the end of the building process to make sure he got more than originally stated. He paid himself in four installments throughout the build and would take another 10% on top of his original 10%. When confronted about this before closing he became very defensive. After speaking with others this is a regular practice for this builder. He did a poor job of watching his subs and I had to point out problems to have them corrected. This became counter productive since I had to pay for any mistakes and then pay 10% on top of that for the privileged of having something corrected. The appraiser did not have good things to say about this builder either. He advised that a lot of other customers where not happy with the way he did business. This service did not complete the job I paid for. I paid upfront had to wait 2 months for them to schedule the service after they did not arrive after the promised date. I met them when they came in for an estament. Would never never never use again... more
