About Van Buren
Van Buren is the county seat of the Crawford County region area of Arkansas. As of the 2000 census, the city had a population of 21,248 and the city has a land area of 15.1 square miles. The city was founded in 1818 as a settlement by David Boyd and Thomas Martin. Major Attractions include the King Opera House and the historic downtown district which include the Old Frisco Station and the Drennen Reserve. Famous persons from Van Buren include comedian Bob Burns, former U.S. representative, John T. Deweese, and NFL player Matt Jones.
