If at all possible you should try to save your teeth because dentures are definitely not the same as your natural teeth and will a tough transition for you. Also, your gums will continuely recede and you will need adjustments to your denture to ensure that they continue to fit. If you can possibly save some of your teeth by getting crowns (porcelain shell that covers a damaged tooth) or if a tooth does need to be extracted consider dental implants ( a permanent replacement for missing teeth that look and feel like natural teeth).

I would definitely get a consult from a local dentist who can evaluate you situation and let you know what options are available to you.
