About Pinole

Pinole is a city located in Contra Costa County, California. The city's motto is "Honoring the Past, Embracing the Future". It is about a half hour drive from San Fransisco and is consider a bedroom community of the city. Most of the residents commute to the bigger city for employment. Today, the city is best known for its "Big Box" shopping district and the Pinole Vista Shopping Center. Students here attend the Pinole Valley School There are many famous people with ties to Pinole. Greenday band members Billie Joe Armstrong and Mike Dirnt attend the Pinole Valley High School. Nathan Good, the former drummer for the band Death Cab for Cutie, is now a teacher in the Pinole Valley School District. 1992 Heisman Trophy winner Gino Torretta and former Atlanta Falcon wide receiver Ken Burrows are also from Pinole.
