About Nederland

Nederland is a city located in Boulder County, Colorado. The town was started as a trading post between area settlers and Ute Indians in the 1850's. Today, the city is known as a gateway to outdoor recreation. It is close to Indian Peaks Wilderness, Rocky Mountain National Park, Roosevelt National Forest, and James Peak Wilderness. Nederland is only about seventeen miles from Boulder and fifty miles from Denver, so most of it's residents commute to these nearby cities for employment. The city is host to two annual music events. NedFest which is a three day outdoor music festival and camping event. Famous musicians such as New Orleans bluesman Dr. John and jazz guitarist Stanley Jordan have performed at the event. The other is the Frozen Dead Guys Days, which celebrates the practice of cryonics.
