About Cheshire
The town of Cheshire, named after the county in England, is located in New Haven County, Connecticut, in the New Haven-Milford metro area and is known as the "Bedding Plant Capital of Connecticut" for its production of bedding plants for local and national consumers. Major attractions include Lock 12 Historical Park and Hitchcock Phillips House. Each year, the Strawberry Festival (June) and the Cheshire Grange Community Fair (Sept.) are held here. Two of the best places to visit when you are in Cheshire are 59-acre Quinnipiac Recreation Area and Mixville Recreation Area. Well-known residents of Cheshire have included actor, James Van Der Beek; hockey player, Brian Leetch, and baseball player, Brad Ausmus.
