About Milford, CT

Milford is located between Bridgeport and New Haven in the state of Connecticut. The population of Milford is 54,802. We're known as "A Small City with a Big Heart!"

If you like the beach, Silver Sands State Beach and Park is the place to be, where you can walk the boardwalk and even walk to Charles Island (Capt Kidd is said to have buried treasure there). You can bird watch at the Audubon Society along the Housatonic River.

We've many marinas, restaurants (there are at least 10 just in the downtown Milford Green area alone), various ball fields and parks scattered throughout the city. There's plenty of shopping to be had amongst the specialty shoppes downtown Milford.

Numerous events take place throughout the year: Arts & Crafts Shows on the Milford Green start in the Spring through October. You won't want to miss our Annual Oyster Festival one Saturday mid-August; all the streets downtown are closed for a day of festivities including one big name band, a classic car show, kayak racing on the river, dunk a fireman (for a good cause), the craft show, the food and the rides for the children, rain or shine. Have been told the Fire Muster in September is not to be missed either; it starts with a parade through town and ends at Eisenhower Park. There's a treasure hunt in June, Holiday Stroll and Shopping Night in December to kick off the holiday shopping season with horse-drawn buggy rides through town, strolling musicians and the Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony just to name a few of the exciting events through the year. Oh yes, I almost forgot the Irish Festival and the nightlife downtown every weekend with three bars/restaurants sporting live bands.

Yes, Milford is the place to be for fun day or night, a small city with a BIG heart!
