When an anxiety stress reaction becomes established it produces a physiological imprint in the brain which can be difficult to remove. What you can change is your reactions to the stress anxiety when it arises. If you stop reacting to the anxiety then you stop creating more stress and anxiety and you stop feeding the original imprint.
In time as you learn alternative ways of processing the original anxiety reaction it will gradually diminish and resolve - but you must stop feeding it!
