Addiction to opiates can often start through a true need for pain relief. It's a known fact that people from all stations of life struggle with opiate addiction. The Journal of the American Medical Association has reported that "37% of alcoholics and 53% of drug addicts have at least one co-occurring psychiatric illness. They have also reported that of all people with mental illnesses, 29% of them are drug or alcohol addicts." The link is crystal clear, and cannot be ignored. Drug and alcohol use can often hide the symptoms of psychiatric illness, and they can mimic symptoms as well. Treatment of one without addressing the other is never effective, so we will work with you to treat both problems.
