How can a leaky drain pipe be fixed?
When the drain pipe to the sink is leaking, what are some easy solutions to fixing the leak?

Assuming you're in a newer construction home, where all the plumbing is PVC (or the white plastic pipe) I'll throw a little trick at ya that we use on every new drain installation.
First, plug and fill the sink with hot, hot water. (fill both sinks if you have a double bowl sink) If your leak is really bad, first un screw the compression nut and re-seat the connection in the drain. If its just a slow leak, thats perfect!!!, grab a paper towel, or an old hand towel, or a small tupper ware bowl to catch any of the water that may leak out.
Un-plug the sink(s) and let the hot hot water run through the drain. The hot water is going to heat up the compression rings (thin plastic rings that slide over the pipes to make the water tight seal). After all or most of the water is drained from the sink, tighten all of the connections in the drain. Usually by using the hot water like this, there is no need to use pipe wrenches to tighten the fittings, but... if you need to use them... be extremely careful not to over tighten them. They are plastic, and they will strip out if over tightened.

Many promises not delivered
Basic technical work was OK, but they misrepresented what they would do. Fundamentally, it was my fault not to have a detailed contract written up. When dealing with contractors no job is too small for a complete, iron-clad contract. The job was to put in walkways in front of the house and brick deck in the back. The person representing Royal went around promising to do all types of support work (move sprinklers, cut plants, put in drains, etc). Curiously, this all sounded too good, since with every little addition and regardless of the type of pavers selected, the entire price was based only on square footage. Royal didnâÂÂt do many tasks promised verbally and did not do a final cleanup. The sad part is that this Royal representative did not have enough common sense or business sense to quote me a realistic price for everything I wanted, given that I was already a receptive customer. Instead, they decided to go for a quick kill and leave behind an unsatisfied customer.... more
