Lehigh Acres got it's start in the 1950s, as the Lucky Lee Cattle Ranch. Since the days of Lucky Lee, the boundaries of Lehigh Acres has stretched to cover 61,000 acres. Pasture land where cattle once roamed have been divided into some 152,000 quarter acre and half acre lots for housing.

The majority of the residential homes have low taxes and excellent well water with the services of Goodrich Water.

Lower home prices abound, with homes built between 2003 to 2007 being amoung the best buys in the United States.

Sanibel and Captiva Islands are one of a kind destinations, along with the Everglades. These areas are all easily accessible from the laid back and tropical climate of the Lehigh Acres community.

Lehigh Acres is a part of the census-designated place (CDP) in Lee County metro area of Florida known for its Cape Coral-Fort Myers and Florida Metropolitan Statistical Area. An assortment of medical services are available in the area.

The biggest schools here are Lee County High School and Lehigh Senior High School.

Famous persons from Lehigh Acres include Edward Shapiro a former Chicagoan who was in the real estate business in California, and began land sales in Lehigh Acres.
