That's how traditional publishing works. If the publisher see the potential for profit in your book, they will contract with you for the publishing rights. Then the publishing company pays for editing, cover art, preperation of the files, and the actual printing. The bigger traditional publishers usually pay the author an advance against royalties too.

Don't let subsidy publishing companies fool you. The author paying to get their book published is NOT the normal route. Money flows TO the writer, not FROM.
