Tamarac is a part of the southeastern region/metro area of Florida known for its arts and recreation. Major attractions include the Tamarac Sports Complex and Sunset Point Park. Tamarac serves as a central location among a number of museums in other towns, including the Fort Lauderdale Historical Museum, the Fort Lauderdale Museum of Art, and and the City of Plantation Historical Museum. Among the biggest companies in Tamarac are Arch Aluminum & Glass Company Inc. and Aurafin. The biggest schools here are J.P. Taravella High School and Piper High School. One of the best places to visit when you are in Tamarac is the Tamarac Theatre of Performing Arts. Tamarac spelled backwards is "Car-A-Mat," named after the car wash chain that made founder, Ken Behring, a millionaire.
