Home repair yes but plumbing, not really, but if you pay him enough he'll do it even if he doesn't know what he's doing. I won't speak to all handyman but the ones I've met over the years (and it's a lot) do fit in this box. Because most of what he does is not required to pull a permit he'll fit everything into that catagorie even if it doesn't fit. So be carefull if you're planning on using one! They will usually do such things as putting up a new fixture (not the actual electrical wiring), painting, patch or repair walls, fix broken windows, demolishing projects or very small plumbing projects like replacing a simple faucet. Nothing that requires expertise in a perticular field. What ever you do don't let them do work that requires expertise like serious plumbing work, electrical or heating and a/c jobs. I've seen hundreds of jobs where they had a handyman come out and that's why I'm there to correct it. My initial 20k in trade school and an additional 30k+ in training after school, plus my 13+ yrs in what I do compared to their on the job training. There's no comparing!
