The city of Resaca, named by returning Mexican-American War inductees who fought at the Battle of Resaca de la Palma, is located along the Oostanaula River in Gordon County, Georgia, in the Calhoun metro area. Major attractions include the New Echota Historic Site and Salacoa Creek Park. Each year on the third weekend of May, a reenactment of the Battle of Resaca, the first battle on Atlanta Campaign, is held here.
