About Warner Robins

The military is so important to the city of Warner Robins that the city shows its appreciation even in an official motto. Like many Georgia cities, Warner Robins, about 100 miles from Atlanta, has its origin in agriculture. Originally called York, it was a train stop where area farmers brought their produce for distribution. During World War II, the town renamed itself after Army Brigadier General Augustine Warner Robins of the then-Army Air Corps in an effort to attract a military base, which is today's Robins Air Force Base. The city's official motto is EDIMGIAFAD, an acronym for "Every Day in Middle Georgia is Armed Forces Appreciation Day.
