About Carroll

Carroll is a city in Carroll County, Iowa. The city sits along the Middle Raccoon River. The population was 10,106 as of the 2000 census, and Carroll is the county seat of Carroll County. Carroll County is named after Charles Carroll, of Carrollton, Maryland. Carroll was the longest living signatory of the Declaration of Independence, and was the only Roman Catholic to sign the document. Popular attractions here include the Carroll County Historical Museum, Veterans Memorial Park, and the Carroll Municipal Golf Course. The biggest schools here are Adams Elementary School and Carroll Middle School. Famous persons from Carroll include basketball player Adam Haluska and Iowa State Senator Mary Lundby.
