The city of Hanlontown, named for Frank James Hanlon, a landowner, is located in Worth County, Iowa, in the Mason City metro area. Major attractions within minutes of Hanlontown include the Mansion Museum, a restored historic mansion with a collection of over 3,500 North American artifacts from Winnebago County and a collection from the estate of Ida Fuller, the butterfly dancer and the Kinney Pioneer Museum, which has exhibits on life on the Iowa frontier and includes a log cabin, blacksmith shop and schoolhouse. Each year in June, Sundown Days is celebrated here. One of the best places to visit when you are in Hanlontown is the nearby, 60-acre McIntosh Woods State Park, with camping, trails, boating, fishing, swimming and picnic areas.
