What is your recommendation on they type of paint to use for exterior wood siding? Is there an advantage to using oil based paints or latex?

Oil base takes longer and requires more skill - but it is more durable and saves you in the long run.
Latex is quicker, easier, and cheaper.
Most people choose latex, which is fine, but it is best to go with a premium brand (I prefer Sherwin Williams) and get the top of the line paint. It does not pay to try to save a few pennies. First, if you buy a thinner paint, you'll either need more coats (losing your materials savings and adding to your labor) and/or you won't have the same durability.

This company has been my worste experience. I have built houses and remodeled houses. This Company has been my worste experience. What i feel this company did to me is take my money and used it on other jobs then didnt have money to sub contract it out so there own emplyees did half of the work. They Lie and cant be trusted. This company said they could do my job in 2 to 3 months... took me getting an attorney to have the work done in 6 months. i gave them every penny they asked for when they asked for it and did not perform. Make sure every detail is in writing because in the end they wont come through. I was told that the drawings were part of the contract and to not worry, they would do everything we expected. Boy was i taken.. I would look around before using this company. now im getting sub contractors to my door saying they havent been paid!!!! Ohhh and the job ended up costing me $13,000.00 more than planed. With my $7000.00 change order came to $20,000.00 over contract price!... more

I got my sprinklers winterized a few months ago and in the process the technician shut the hot water off to upstairs. I called for them to come fix it and they told me to get a plumber, which I did. Now they will not reimburse me for the $140 I had to spend to fix THEIR mistake! On top of that, I received a condescending email stating is was my fault that I called a plumber.
