Owl's Roost provides a respite for those coffee drinking, book-loving conversationalists who lack another place of the sort in Lincoln. The shop is decorated nicely, and the idea and intent behind it is right on target. However, there are a few things that are missing. After conversing with other locals who were initially excited about the opening of the OR, here is what we think: A)When you walk in, it smells like cigarette smoke, not coffee. There is just something about the intense smell of coffee that makes people happy. If you get the odor of stale smoke in its place, you will lose interest. B)The coffee tastes like the smell. I HATE to say this because I want OR to succeed, but I cannot help but admit, the coffee is not very good. C)Where is the music? There is no music. Just silence. This is awkward when trying to converse with others when you may be the only people in the shop, and the owner is on his computer at the next table.... more

If you are single and make a decent amount of money this is a good apartment. The main problem is the price. for a one bedroom it is 500, not TOO bad but you also have to take into consideration where they are build. Lincoln. I found nicer TWO bedroom apartments in bloomington, in a nicer part of town for less. Brainards is bare minimum. When I lived there the landlord was rude, and you couldnt trust anything she said. I also thing two hundred extra dollars to have a pet is a little rediculous, not only that but you have to pay additional pet fees monthly. A two bedroom at brainards isnt too bad in size, but personally i think the price is OUTRAGEOUS. $725 a month. there is no privacy, kids constantly running across the street, in front of cars. Loud neighbors, rude neighbors. If they lowered the price a bit it would be the nicest in Lincoln but over all, Its just rediculous.... more
