About Mattoon

Mattoon is a a part of the Coles County region of Illinois know for being the Principal city of the Charleston-Mattoon Micropolitan Statistical Area and it's industry, as well as it's bagels. Major attractions include the original Burger King. Among the biggest companies in Mattoon is the Lender's Bagel factory, which made the city the self declared "Bagel Capital of the World". One of the more famous schools in Mattoon is Land Lake College, which happens to be a community college in Mattoon. There are plenty of famous people that hail from Mattoon, which include Patricia Robert Harris, US secretary of Housing and Urban Development, Arland D. Williams Jr., hero of the Air Florida Flight 90. and Hope Summers, an actress known for her role in the Andy Griffith show.
