Our trucks go through our personal maintenance shop before being available to our customers. They are PM'd at regular intervals and our records are available for customers, should they request them.
When renting a truck, look for a company that will walk around the unit with you for a visual inspection before leaving the yard. This way, both the leasing manager and you can address any issues before even starting the truck. The company should also provide a 24-hr available service number for you to call should any accidents occur while you're on the road. If a company doesn't provide 24-hr service, you might run into trouble!
The truck shouldn't be throwing codes on the dashboard, shouldn't be making any odd noises, should have good tires, and be full of fuel before you leave the yard.
