Each state has different laws relating to construction defects. In California the time period a contractor is responsible for construction related defects is 10 years.
If you have a defect you should notify the contractor, if it is a safety issues, also notify the building department. Because the laws typical favor consumers, most contractors will work very hard to repair defects quickly, particularly in new construction.

Benos Sukhatme & Assoc
Benos works 4 Illinois & respects no client-attorney privilege with unemployed
My experience was exactly the same as Colleen's. The Benos lawyer didn't listen to a word I said. When I received the Benos rejection letter, <2 DAYS AFTER I *TALKED*, he added even more reasons 4 Illinois Department of Employment Security to deny my claim-REASONS THAT HAVE NO BASIS IN FACT & I NEVER DISCUSSED WITH THEM! Benos is working 4 IDES & the employer, not me. Unemployed have enough 2 worry about without being deceived by Benos & IDES, who are being paid by taxes from our hard earned money! I reported Benos 2 the IDES judge & my Senator & gave them plenty of evidence 2 investigate. The IDES judge ignored my complaint & the Senator told me 2 take it 2 court. I can't afford a lawyer 2 take it 2 court, that's why I called Benos in the 1st place! Illinois doesn't care about investigating fraud on vulnerable taxpayers; they care about preventing new unemployment claims at all cost. Unemployed have a right 2 know: You have no client-attorney privilege when talking to Benos - Beware!... more

B B Nails
BAD BAD BAD
Lady inside was nice enough, but more concerned with family then doing my nails. Did a crummy job of filling them and filing made the nails all lopsided. I didn't see a school license anywhere... for the amount I paid, I should have gone to my regular spot. Worse yet that it was a Friday night and I was the only customer... should have told me something; now I know!... more

The product and process appear to be good. The final coloring of my particular job is unsatisfactory. This is a several step process and when the original coloring was sponged and sprayed on, it looked good, but whatever step took place between that and the final sealcoat made the coloring fade away and there is little coloring left. When I brought this to the attention of the owner, he said it was too late to do anything about it and it was my fault I did not watch more closely....eek!...this guy has zero customer service skills. Anyway, looks like I'm stuck with it now.... more
