New Ross is part of the Walnut Township in Montgomery County, Indiana. The population was 334 as of the 2000 census. The median age was 32 years and the median income for a household in the town was $38,250. New Ross was originally called Valley City. Between 1936 and 1937 a Post Office was established by George Dorsey, and it was called the New Ross Post Office. Around 1868 the post office was moved to Valley City and the name of the city was changed to New Ross to match the post office name. New Ross was incorporated in May 1870. Major attractions in the area include Ladoga Rest Park and Lew Wallace Study & Museum. The local businesses include Browning Construction & Landscaping and Pats Ceramics . Among the biggest schools are Walnut Elementary School and Crawfordsville Senior High School. The Indiana State fair is held annually in the summer in Indianapolis, Indiana. One of the best places to visit when you are in the New Ross area is Indianapolis Motor Speedway Hall of Fame Museum.
