About Axtell

Axtell is a city located in Marshall County, Kansas. It was founded in 1872 by the St. Joseph and Grand Island Railroad Company and named after Dr. Jesse Axtell, an officer of the railroad company. Students here attend the Axtell Unified School District which includes one elementary school and the Axtell Jr-Sr. High School. The city is also home to the St. Michael Catholic School. Attractions in the city include the World War I Doughboy Memorial and the City Park which includes a playground, ball field, concession stand and is where the high school football games are played. Businesses here include Dave's Hardware, Evergreen Lawns, Nemaha-Marshall Electric Co-Op, Axtell Truss Mfg Inc., and Smittys Salvage & Repair Inc..
