Burns is a city located in Marion County, Kansas. Burns Union School, built in 1905, was the first consolidated school in the state and was also the first school in the state to use a "bus". The bus was actually a special order wagon. Today the building houses the Burns Community Museum. The comic science fiction movie Mars Attacks! was partially filmed in the city. The city is part of the Peabody-Burns Unified School District which includes one elementary school and the Peabody-Burns Junior/Senior High School. Burns also host the Route 77 Classic Car Show. Businesses located in the city include Bluestem Builders LLC, Hadley Transit LLC, Burns Cafe & Bakery, Goodwin Enterprises, and Koehn Concrete.
