About Abbeville

Abbeville, the heart of "Cajun Country". is a small city located in and the parish seat of Vermilion Parish, Louisiana. The city is known as a trade center for rice, seafood and other agricultural products and also provides many services for the natural gas and oil fields operating in the Gulf of Mexico. One of the biggest companies located in Abbeville is C.S. Steen's Syrup Mill, Inc. Students living in the city attend the Vermilion Parish School District. Vermillion Catholic High School and Mount Carmel Elementary School are also located in Abbeville. The city is home to many famous restaurants such as Ms Judy's Kitchen and Richards Crawfish Patio. Abbeville is host to many annual events including the Giant Omelet Celebration and the Daylily Festival and Garden Show. The 1988 remake of the movie The Blob was filmed in Abbeville. Famous people with ties to the city include country music star Sammy Kershaw and professional cage fighter Seth Fenwick Miller.
