About Slidell
Slidell is situated on the northeastern shore of Lake Pontchartrain in St Tammany Parish of Louisiana. Its ideally located close to the intersection of three major highways and is 30 minutes from New Orleans. Close to the Gulf Coast beaches and casinos, its also known for its southern charm and hospitality. Founded in 1882, the city has a humid sub-tropical climate. It offers many opportunities for sailing, fishing and water sports on Lake Pontchartrain. It hosts the Mardi Gras and the St Patrick Days parades annually. It has three high schools and public schools operated by the St Tammany parish. Famous people from Slidell include Arthur Chevrolet, boxer Tony Canzoneri, NBA basketballer PJ Brown, current New Yorks Knicks point guard Chris Duhon and rapper Juvenile.
