Blandford is a town in Hampden County. It is a part of the Springfield region/metro area of Massachusetts known for its ties to basketball history, literary figures and ski resorts. Blandford Ski Area is located within the town. Local businesses include the Blandford Country Store & Cafe and the Blandford Animal Hospital. As of the 2000 census, the population of Blandford was 1,214 and it has a land area of 53.3 square miles. Each Labor Day Weekend, the Blandford Fair is hosted at the Blandford Fairgrounds. This is a family event with many carnival rides and live musical entertainment. A famous person from Blandford was George Ashmun, who served as a United States Representative in the mid-nineteenth century.
