How does a reverse osmosis system work in a home? What are the pros and cons when using the system?
A reverse osmosis works by passing water through a membrane which removes most if not all of the contaminants it is designed to reduce. A good ro (reverse osmosis) system also uses a good carbon block filter to filter the stuff that the osmosis does not filter. In other words, you need both a reverse osmosis membrane plus a carbon block filter to do a really good job of filtering your water.
The RO systems vary but the one I recommend uses a a high-production, 50 gpd, thin film composite semipermeable membrane that separates unwanted inorganic impurities, such as nitrates, fluoride, etc. from your water. This hyperfiltration membrane reduces salts, certain heavy metals, and other impurities.
The pros are that it reduces almost everything you want to take out of your water! It is the most thorough way of reducing contaminants from your water. For example, RO systems are the only systems that can reduce fluoride, nitrates, radon, hexavalent chromium and some other contaminants. So if you really want to clean your water of "almost everything" that might be harmful to you, Reverse Osmosis is the way to go.
However, that said, the disadvantage of using RO is that it takes out all the healthy minerals from your water, does not taste as good as water with minerals in it, wastes water in the processing of it, and costs more both to buy and to maintain.
For those who want to reduce arsenic there is only one alternative for filtering arsenic and that is a Multi-Pure 880 carbon block filter. They have the only carbon block filter that reduces arsnenic. However, their RO system also reduces arsenic as do most RO systems.
Personally, unless one is really afraid of fluoride in one's water (and many are becoming increasingly convinced that fluoride is bad for health), I recommend one of the Multi-Pure 880 carbon block filter systems instead.
Now, why do I recommend Multi-Pure over other brands?
1) Multi-Pure is NSF Certified - that means it is independently tested for quality and assurance that it does what it says it does, no false claims are made
2) Multi-Pure has a lifetime warranty on the housings and a 90 day money-back satisfaction guarantee so you can return it for any reason within 90 days
3) Multi-Pure carbon block filters (all of them, even the cheapest model the MPAD) reduces more contaminants than any other filter on the market - over 60 contaminants of health concern
4) Multi-Pure has been a leader in the field of water filtration since 1970
5) Multi-Pure is one of the original "green" companies, as water filters not only help reduce the accumulation and production of plastic bottles that people buy water in, but the filters themselves actually help absorb the contaminants in the earth when they are discarded
6) Multi-Pure makes the ONLY NSF Certified filter that reduces arsenic-V from tap water
7) You can get an internet discount on any Multi-Pure filter by applying the following coupon codes which get you the absolute cheapest price available on a Multi-Pure filter, guaranteed! 424611-disc on all filter systems except the 880 models; and 424611-disc2 on the 880's
8) IN ADDITION to the above discount you can ALSO get a Free Shower Filter if you act soon, valued at $50, and all you pay is an extra $10 shipping. The shower filter helps keep your body from absorbing chlorine, and helps keep your skin and hair from being damaged by chlorine

Is a prescription required to get physical therapy for back pain? Can the same level of care be given from a chiropractor?
For the most part yes, an order or perscription from a physician is needed to be able to get physical therapy for back pain. In some states you do not need a perscription from a Dr. Chiropractors and Physical Therapists are two toally different professions. In some cases a chiropractor is needed to help realighn the bones, but the majority or the population need Physical Therapy for back pain because thier are a number of reasons you could be experiencing the back pain and a therapist is trained to figure it out and then help you become pain free and then continue to be pain free.
