The town of Maynard is located on the Assabet River in Middlesex County, Massachusetts, in the Boston-Cambridge-Quincy metro area. Maynard was named after Amory Maynard, a local mill owner, and was once known as Assabet Village. Major attractions are Maynard's old houses including Asa Smith house and the Silas Brooks House, and the Town Clock, which was erected in in 1892 and is the oldest working hand wound clock in the United States. One of the best places to visit when you are in Maynard is the Maynard Historical Society, which hosts informative programs on topics related to Maynard's history. Less than 30 minutes away, visit Cochituate State Park where you can go boating, swimming, fishing and picnicking.
