Hydration is the number one thing that should always be done before and after a massage or any detoxing treatment which involves manipulation of the soft tissue, products that draw out impurities, sweating & all physical activities like walking & sports. Many people get soar when they are not use to receiving a professional massage and that is usually due to the toxins being released and improper hydration, though sometimes the work may be too deep for you (which can also vary with your body on a daily bases). You should always let the therapist know if this is your first or if you don't receive massages on a regular bases therefore they should work on a gentler level. Never be afraid to speak up if you are experiencing discomfort, the temperature in the room is too cold, the music annoys you, or if you need a moment to just breathe and calm yourself. If someone is nervous then the tissue tightens up and the therapist has to find a way to comfort and ease into the treatment. As for the question of clothing, undress to your comfort level. Most people fully undress to allow full back and gluts to be worked on (Florida has a draping policy) and may request full/partial draping. Communication is the key, if the therapist has a problem with that then that is a clear sign to find another that is in the field for the purpose of awakening your body's healing process and pampering you!

It sounds like this is a residential lease vs commercial. If I were the landlord or property manager (and I have been) I would want to take care of it.
