Conrad's son, John Farland, specifically asked The Town of Oxford to do an inspection of the car lot around that time. The results were a clean bill of health. Exact words..."It looks like a car lot". So, I'm suspecting you are a friend of John's. Conrad passed on Dec.18, 2010 and the family was/is severely fractured. So now John owns everything Conrad built-up...took it (accepted it) from his mother while our parents were in the midst of an argument - which led to divorce proceedings... due to the fact that Conrad's wife, John's mother - had somehow been convinced to put 7 acres, several hundred thousand dollars, and the marital home; which both parents were still living in at the time - all in John's sole custody. Conrad said he couldn't be "robbed" of what he spent a lifetime building up. He filed for divorce, just to get 1/2 of what was "their's". He loved his wife very much - and both his children...even though he hated what was happening he still felt he had to help John if asked... more
One of the things I liked about owning Conrad's Auto Sales, Inc. was feeling a sense of community. The customers were often repeat; we called them, "Lifers" and felt a personal connection... Conrad started at The Village Getty Station, which is now the Southbridge Savings Bank, on the corner of 56 and 20, in North Oxford...with three cars! The Oxford flea Market was opened where Conrad's Auto Sales was (the business closed on November 1, 2011) and began selling at the new location in 1998. For personal reasons the business was recently closed. I never knew a man who took such pride in being a stand-up person as my Dad was. Conrad was up-front about the vehicles he sold - leaving him little to no need to advertise. He used to say that bad new traveled faster than good news, but when people knew someone that needed a car at a low price, with an honest description, they wouldn't hesitate to bring their friends to the business...and they did. Conrad wasn't the 'get-rich-quick' type..... more
Unless you are talking to Linda, you are not buying a car from Conrad's. The business has been kidnapped by ny brother since my dad passed. people know what they know. and they only need talk to their friends to find out that the business, if nothing else, is honest to a fault... my dad used to say that you can't fool people. When the rubber meets the road - they're going to know anyway. You don't make money on one-time buyers who get a bad deal. There is a butt for everu seat... no matter what is wrong with the vehicle. We always conducted ourselves with honesty. BBB gives us an A+...not because there were no compaints - those customers chose to complain to BBB before even talking to us; but because of the response they received. Just for the record. Thanks to all our customers over the years, you became our friends, I will miss you all.... more
Since my dad died, and before, the family is fractured. God knows - Conrad is turning over in his grave - his son, John, ran me over and ran me off the business. So you're not doing business with "Conrad's Auto Sales, Inc."... more
