I contacted nine contractors to get bids for our addition. Minot Light Builders was professional, friendly, showed up on time (or a few minutes early! -- instead of calling to postpone the meeting, which happened twice with other contractors. Also, every other contractor was late and a few of them, after spending an hour to get specifications, didn't even bother to bid or return phone calls). Ed and his crew did the work he said they would do, on time and on budget. One year later, we are still impressed with the quality of the workmanship. Ed was creative in figuring out how to put the laundry room in (we had plumbing challenges) and he pointed out several items we could complete on our own if we wanted to save some money. This is how it should be. Without hesitation, we are contacting him again to do our kitchen remodel. I'm not even going to bother getting other bids. I know I'll be treated fairly, the work will be up to our standards, and it will be done on time.... more

great job!
just wanted to take a minute an extend my gratitude to the house doctor .I hired a refered contractor and was left high and dry after the first deposit was paid (nightmare).i had driven by n.scituate and spotted the house doctors sign and figured id give it a try , but i was weary to contract with sshd because i was already out financially and was afraid to hire another contractor. upon meeting the owner ,he was nice , cleancut and sincere.he felt for our situation and offered to complete the job with what was left of the original contractors cost.-which i thought was fishy! but to our surprise ,he showed up with an army and finished the job extremely fast and it looks great!!! ive recomended him to my neighbors and we owe the doctor-lots of apple pie as promised haha.so all in all.. a great guy with a great heart and a passion for the business! many thanks mike-trisha... more

SSHD is second to none!
• This was my first positive experience with builders. In the past it has always been a formula of twice the time, twice the money of the estimate (or sometimes much more). SSHD did the job for what they said they would and they did it within the time frame. It was such a delightful change from other home improvement companies I have used in the past. These guys were friendly, consciences, and did a great job. The big plus is that they are so friendly you don't mind them being in your place.... more
