About Saint Inigoes

Saint Inigoes is a small community located in Saint Mary’s County, Maryland. The county is known for being named in honor of Mary, the mother of Jesus. When in the area, be sure to visit the historical sites of Cecil’s Old Mill, Piney Point Lighthouse, Sotterley Plantation, and Tudor Hall. Outdoor lovers will enjoy spending some time in the parks of the area. A nice one to visit is the Point Lookout State Park. This park is a peninsula formed by the Chesapeake Bay and the Potomac River. An attraction at the park is the Point Lookout Light, an original lighthouse built in 1830. The park also offers fishing, boating, beaches, and camping. The Maryland International Raceway is also a great place to visit for racing enthusiasts. Universities or colleges located within Saint Mary’s County include the St. Mary’s College of Maryland and the College of Southern Maryland. Notable residents of the county include Francis Scott Key, author of the Star Spangled Banner, and Scott Hall, the professional wrestler. Local businesses in the area include Monks Inn Inc, located on Trapp Road; Saint Inigoes Mini Mart, located on Point Lookout Road; and Courtneys Restaurant & Seafood, located on Route 252. The largest employer of the area is Patuxent River Naval Air Station.
