Does one need to acquire a permit to remodel the interior of a home if the home is outside city limits?
JBrazzi3,
There are Permits required in all jurisdictions whether in town or out of town. However, your question is really about which permits are required. If you are doing work on the interior only, you will not need a zoning permit. If you are modifying the electrical or plumbing you will need permits for those changes. Your electrician and plumber will pull those as part of their quote to you. If you are modifying the structure, such as relocating walls that might be bearing walls, the building department wants to see what your doing and have some say in whether it meets code or not. So you would be advised to pull a building permit.
If you are painting, changing the carpet ,hanging wall paper, etc. a permit is not required.
Hope that helps.

Worst service from any business that I have ever dealt with. Trash has been out for a week although they promised that another company was going to help them get caught up. They take your money and never pick up your trash. Shouldn't be allowed to continue as a business.... more
There should be a rating of "NO STAR". We have had service with this company for the past few years. In the beginning, all was fine. Over the past year, service has gone straight down hill. It has been 3 weeks since we had trash picked up. Their staff took our container the last time they picked up though we paid for the cart and always have. Their answering machine give excuse after excuse each week on why trash isn't picked up but it's all a bunch of BS. They won't answer their phone and the voice mailbox is always full. I am paid up for the next 2 months so I don't want to lose my money but this is crazy. BBB should close this operation down!!!!... more
Well after reading all of the reviews we decided to take our garbage over to them. They haven't picked up garbage for two weeks, we called on Friday and said they would pick it up yesterday, well that didn't happen. Who knows when they will pick it up? We are switching to Granger goodbye Jim's Rubbish!... more
It has been going on three weeks since our last pickup. The trash is accumilating. A phone call said they have the problems fixed but no one here yet. I may be dumping on their lawn like some others. They cash the check and run.... more
After three and a half weeks of no service, and promises to pick it up immediately, when we were able to talk to a person, we took care of it ourselves. We took our cart and the accumulated trash and delivered it to their yard. They cashed our check and we got one week of service after that. We're out our money, but good riddance, and it will come back on them in some way.... more
