The first thing is to get a resume ready to go. Then start sending it to places you think might have an opening. You might reflect on the businesses your old company used to work with and see if any of them are hiring. Most job openings aren't advertised.
Another option to consider is to take the opportunity to get some training in a different field that may still be in demand in your area. It's also beneficial to update your skills in the job market as you are doing your job search.
You mentioned you lost your job because the company moved overseas. Have you applied for NAFTA Trade Adjustment Act funding for training? We have a number of students in both our campus-based and distance learning vocational programs who have received the funding to afford their training. The program can cover up to 100% of tuition and support costs. Graduates also receive job placement assistance services after they graduate.
Good luck!
