Grand Marais is a part of Michigan's Upper Peninsula known as the eastern gateway to the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. One of the best places to visit when you are in Grand Marais is the Gitche Gumee Agate and History Museum. The former Grand Marais U.S. Life-saving Service Station received the last transmission of the ill-fated freighter S.S. Edmund Fitgerald before sinking in 1975.
