Nisula is an unincorporated community located within Laird Township, in the upper peninsula of the state of Michigan. It is located within Houghton County. The population of the entire township of Laird, as of the 2000 US census, was 634, of which a fraction belongs to Nisula. Local businesses include Brewster's Oasis and Sullivans. A major attraction the Historical Nisula Church, by which is also located one of the town's two historical cemeteries. Nisula falls under the jurisdiction of the Houghton County Public School system. The area is known for its proximity to the Great Lakes, and has plentiful opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts to go hiking, swimming, sailing and camping.
