There are several options to improve the sensitivity people face when they have developed receding gums. One option would be to place fillings on the teeth to cover the exposed root of the tooth which would protect the root lessening sensitivity. Another option would be to have a tissue graft which would require tissue to be removed from another area of the mouth (usually the palate) and sutured in place in the areas where the recession has occured. Again, this would protect the exposed root of the tooth and reduce sensitivity. The less invasive approach would be fillings but the more cosmetically appealing approach would be the grafting procedure.
