Dovray is a city in Dovray Township, located in Murray County, Minnesota. The main route through the town is Minnesota State Highway 30. Dovray received its name from Dovray Township which was once called Dovre after a village in Norway and also for the Dovrefjield, which is a mountainous plateau, also located in Norway. The spelling of the town was changed due to a township in Kandiyohi County receiving the same name in 1869, although the pronunciation remained the same. The town was founded in 1895 and in 1899 the townsfolk moved closer to the railroad line that was laid nearby but bypassed the original site of their town. The new town received a post office in 1895 and was incorporated on January 2, 1924. Dovray Local businesses include Dovray Community Center, Prairie Grain Partners LLC, and T Tommys Log Cabin. Murray County has an abundance of things to see and do including a visit to Lake Shetek State Park located in nearby Currie where you can enjoy fishing, boating, or swimming in Lake Shetek, or bike the six-mile loop and visit the End-O-Line Railroad Park and Museum. Murray County also offers several golf courses, campgrounds and archery businesses including Lake Sarah Archery which offers everything archery-related at their pro shop.
