Silver Bay is a city in Lake County, Minnesota, United States.The city was founded on May 1, 1954 after previously being known as the Beaver Bay housing project. The company town was built to process taconite mined and shipped by train from Babbitt, MN, sixty miles to the northwest. Major attractions include Tettegouche State Park and Split Rock Lighthouse. Among the biggest companies in Silver Bay are Mesaba Bancshares, Inc, and Wells Fargo & Company. The biggest schools here are Kelley Secondary School and William Kelley Elementary School. One of the best places to visit when you are in Silver Bay is Gooseberry Falls State Park.
