Bassfield is a part of the south central region of Mississippi known for its many Old South historic sites and religious communities. Major attractions include Canebrake Golf Club and Robertson Park. Each year in the summer season there is the Prentiss Pickin' & Grinnin' Bluegrass, Country And More Concert. Among the biggest companies in Bassfield are St Peter's Catholic Church and Jackson Farms Nursery. The biggest schools here are W. E. Carver Elementary School and Bassfield High School. One of the best places to visit when you are in Bassfield is Prentiss Country Club. Famous persons from Bassfield include Ronnie Shows.
