Beginning as a station on the Milwaukee, Fairfield has grown into a town in the state of Montana between Great Falls and Choteau. The area that Fairfield is in is known for its snow geese and tundra swans as well as the well producing hay and grain fields that surround the town. Fairfield is also the self proclaimed Malting Barley Capital of the World. It is also home to Busch Agricultural Resources, 3 Rivers Telephone Cooperative and the Sun River Electric Cooperative. In the town there is also a beautiful fairway called the Harvest Hills Golf Course. The town, during the summer, holds Swim Day festivities every third Saturday in July. The event is attended by many families in Fairfield as well as people from the surrounding communities. Fairfield has its own school that serves children in grades K-12. Some of the other businesses in Fairfield are the Montana Biker Magazine and Latigo and Lace.
