About Fortine

Located off of the U.S. Highway 93, about 12 miles south of Eureka, MT, Fortine is a small town in the state of Montana. It is located very close to the Idaho and Canadian borders and it is one of the first towns a person would encounter when entering the state from Idaho. The town started as a small station on the Great Northern Rail line but now has grown to have a population of about 1,000 people. Some of the major attractions are the Kootenai National Forest and Lake Koocanusa, which are frequented by outdoor enthusiasts from all over the country. Fortine is known for its lush greenery, tall trees and healthy fish population. Some of the businesses in Fortine are Christel Agnes, Bowers Cabins and Hubbard’s Cupboard & Construction.
